It serves the metropolitan area of the Mexican capital with a large number of international and intercontinental flights throughout the country. It is also a link between Latin America, the United States and Canada. In 2023, 48.4 million passengers passed through it. It is located 10 km (6 miles) east of the historic center of Mexico City. The airport has two terminals (Terminal 1 and Terminal 2), open 24 hours a day, 3 km (1.9 miles) apart and connected by an Aerotrén (exclusively for passengers with boarding passes and crew) and by buses for the general public.
Both terminals have restaurants, cafes and bars (some open 24 hours a day), as well as a wide variety of shops, including duty-free, also open 24 hours a day (mainly in Terminal 1), clothing, perfume, local produce, books, newspapers, electronics, telephones and accessories. You will also find currency exchange, banking services, convenience stores, VIP lounges, postal services, luggage storage and emergency medical services.
